Heal the soil, heal the Land
For the past year, we are partnering with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, a branch of the USDA, to subdivide our rangeland and irrigated pastures. This will help with rotating the livestock through the different areas with the aim at improving the grazing grasses and forage. By focusing on soil health, measured by residual dry matter on the range, will actually allow for higher production of livestock feed in the long run. Healthy soil produces healthy plants. We do this by implementing new fencing which allows us to move the livestock with the seasons. We also install gates in key areas to allow wildlife corridor access at targeted times of year. Twice a season, our range and pastures are professionally evaluated and we are given recommendations for improvement and suggestions for any changes. We are dedicated to being a Conservation Steward here at our Farm.
